Capt.Pratap Singh hails from Uttarakhand (Chamoli). He joined The Indian Army in September 1984. He had a history of successfully conquering challenging peaks. He secured a ‘Q’ (I) grading and adjudged as the best student in Mountain Warfare and Winter Warfare at HAWS. He also attended Army Alpine Skiing in 1998. He successfully summited Mount Chaukhamba (7138m) and Mount Sri Kalash in 1998, Mount Annapurna and Mount Gangotri in 2002, Mount Mukut East (7153m) in 2003, Mount Trishul East (7120m) in 2004, Mount Trishul West (Ski down) (7120m) and Mount Shivling (6543m) in 2005 and Mount Satopanth in 2008. In 2009, he summited Mount Everest and made The Indian Army proud. The junior Commissioned Officer served as instructor at HAWS from 2000 to 2002 and in NIM from 2007 to 2010. He also played greater role in various search and rescue operations including the rescue of 11 Gorkha Rifles Regimental Expedition team from Mount Trishul in 2010.
